Nickel-hydride batteries (Ni-MH) of BYD Energy/JYH Batteries

Over 20 years of its development (since 1995), BYD Co. Ltd. became one of the world’s largest manufacturers of power sources in terms of numbers of units. It is located in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China. It manufactures nickel (Ni-Cd and Ni-MH) and lithium (Li-Ion, Li-FePO4 [LFP]) technology cells. A year after taking over Tsinchuan Automobile Co Ltd in 2002, BYD Automobile was established which focuses its operations on developing electric cars powered by LFP systems it manufactures itself in. The other focus entails energy storage systems (ESS) used as energy stores for renewable energy sources (primarily solar panels).

JYH Batteries is the other supplier, established in 1999. It is a private enterprise in China operating in the power sector. The company manufactures rechargeable batteries and energy sources, the main product lines include nickel–cadmium (Ni-Cd) , nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH), lithium-ion (Li-Ion), lithium-iron phosphate (Li-FePO4/LFP) batteries as well as emergency lighting modules. Through its investments in research and development works, JYH became a professional supplier on a wide scale. The factory spans 20,000 sq. m., with daily production capacity of 500 thousand cells. To guarantee quality and reliability of its products, the company introduced the ISO9001 quality management system. Top quality raw materials and components are used in the production process which is based on advanced plant machinery.

Standard Series

Features high capacity and stable operating parameters. The cells deliver a very good price/efficiency ratio and are very reliable. They are used in devices with long lifetimes, operating at average charge/discharge currents.

High current Series

The high current series is an excellent choice for applications requiring high operating currents (up to 10C) and low internal impedance. These cells also deliver all the advantages of Ni-MH technology (very good price to efficiency ratio, high reliability, long lifetimes, broad operating temperature range, no memory effect).

High temperature Series

The high temperature series delivers all the benefits of Ni-MH technology – very good price to parameters ratio, high reliability and long lifetime. Additionally, the high temperature cells feature very good charge and lifetime properties (up to 4 years) at increased temperatures (+50oC) and are an excellent solution for emergency lighting and/or devices with rechargeable battery buffer operation is required. One should remember that high temperature cells cannot be charged quickly.
